Here come the girls

November 11, 2010

There are some ads on telly that have me rushing for the off-switch (not that I can ever find the remote when I need it) but there is one, at the moment, that always raises a smile. It’s the Boots ‘here come the girls’ campaign.

It’s partly the great, and incredibly catchy, song, and partly the lovely sense of cameraderie amongst the women office workers, either as they charge off en masse to get ready for the office party or, as in the latest ad, they meet for a girls’ lunch and end up swapping presents even though they’ve said they’re definitely not giving them this year. It’s sweet and very well observed – I’ve lost count of the times I’ve done that.

As well as crafting great ads, Boots do actually sell stuff – they’ve got a huge range of toys and gifts at the moment on a 3 for 2 offer. Well worth checking out. While you’re singing ‘heeeere come the girrrrls,’ of course. Oh no, that song is going to be stuck in my head all blimmin’ day.

I so love that advert and song too, but Marks and Spencers have a good one this year too.

I love that M & S one too, partly because we listen to Capital Radio in the mornings on the way to school and Lisa Snowdon is our heroine! And Dannii Minogue is such a good sport in the ad, miming along with her hairbrush, love it. Though the lingerie models are a bit depressing.

I really wish I hadn’t visited this post today! Only joking, sweetie! Now I have that bloody awful (not-at-all) catchy tune in my head and I hate it!!!

I’m really sorry!! The other one that always gets stuck in my head is that one for Lloyds Bank with the strange warbling tune …. oh no, I’ve probably got you singing that one now …. 😉 xx

It makes me smile and also empowers me and reminds me of my girlfriends and fun times to be had. I love this advert about as much as the M and S ones, in fact more.

Isn’t it funny how some ads can really get you on side and some just completely miss the mark? Both the Boots ones and the M &S ones are very pro-women without being anti-man, which I like

I just saw the present one a couple of days ago and it really did make me giggle as my friends and I seem to do that every year!!! Hope you are well xx

Just saw that ad again and I must say they are handing over enormous great perfume sets – with my friends it’s just just little tokens. Yes, all well here, lovely, hope all’s fine over there too xx

A lot of dough goes into these Christmas adverts. Funny I never see them on tele (I hardly ever watch) but I’ve seen them all online.

Are you coming to the BMB xmas party, BTW???

Oooh, when is that? Going over to the BMB site to have a look … will you be wearing that lovely Hobbs dress?
