Killing joke

I love the news that the Radio Times is featuring a Sarah Lund knitting pattern to celebrate the return of The Killing, the Danish detective show which took over my life briefly this year. Lund, in charge of the investigation and lurching wildly from suspect to suspect, famously wore the same downtrodden, bobbly snowflake-patterned jumper throughout the series.

It came to symbolise her increasingly dysfunctional life, as her boyfriend and son abandoned her and even her mother gave up nagging her and making her evil stews. There’s nothing on earth that could induce me to wear this jumper, and luckily I can’t knit properly so I won’t be tempted for a second to embark on such a doubtful project. Those who really wish to can actually purchase it online for a mind-boggling 280 euros – OMG!

Well I certainly won’t be ordering one. But it did get me thinking. Knitting ….. detectives …..November ….. shouldn’t we all be knitting something quite different, to celebrate the month of Movember? Yes, that’s right, everyone get busy with your needles and knit your own Hercule Poirot tache in support of the men’s health charity. You know you want to.

OMG – Sarah Lund’s jumpers … loved The Killing, but those jumpers!

When is the new series starting?!

It’s starting this Saturday! Can’t wait! but only one episode at a time for this series, they’re spreading the jam ….

I had to google Sarah Lund and The Killing as we haven’t got it here yet but I had a different reaction to the jumper. I wouldn’t wear it either but I have a lovely photo of my sister in a similar but nicer version of it cuddling her young son so it gave me a bit of a warm glow. This is the bit that tells it all though – my nephew is 26!

Sounds like a lovely picture …. but you said it, your nephew is 26!! Hope The Killing comes your way soon as it is absolutely brilliant. Although in the opener to Series 2 she was wearing a red jumper, not that snowflake affair …..
