We are having the time of our lives in Barbados – seeing the wild shores of Bathsheba, rummaging through the hot shops of Bridgetown, eating snapper, mahi-mahi and breadfruit every night as the ocean laps behind us.
There is just one leeetle tiny problem ….. somewhere, thousands of miles away in Europe, there is some volcano no-one had ever heard of before, belching a big cloud of dust. And that means our flight home has been cancelled.
Yay!
Mind you, that means I miss work, the girls miss school, plays, dancing exams and all manner of stuff which seems essential if you’re not lying on a beach idly watching the patterns cast on the sand by palm trees.
We do have a provisional flight back booked. We may be on it. It all depends on that cloud of dust somewhere in Europe.
Let’s hope it doesn’t get windy.
Enjoy your extra days in the sun. The daily grind will come around soon, when the dust settles !!
Back to the grind now – arggh!
LOL…you are certainly the right side of the problem. I feel sorry for the people that have had their flights cancelled who are going away.
Enjoy those extra few days…yay!! ;0)
I know, I felt really bad for all those who had to pay for hotels for a long extra stretch …terrible. We had a lovely time!
You definitely seem to have fallen on your feet there – if you are going to be stranded anywhere…
I know! We felt really lucky – was a great holiday 🙂
Of all the places to get stranded – you choose Barbados!
I’d have given a limb to be stranded there when we visited a couple of years ago…enjoy your bonus few days x
I know, we really lucked out – where did you stay when you were in Barbados?
How lucky can you get!!
Hope you’ve all had a fantastic time.
We did have a fantastic time, thank you honey, and we raised a glass to you and the lovely H xxx
You poor poor dears. It must be quite hell and hardly the place to keep a supply of comforting chocolate peanuts without them melting. Have just heard the aircraft ban may well stretch into another 24 hours. It’s incredible. Meanwhile people are rushing like lemmings to find alternative ways of travel. The queues at St Pancras this morning for Eurostar back to mainland Europe were monumental.
I know, I kept checking the BBC website and seeing people struggling all over Europe ….amazing one volcano could do so much! Hope you were ok xx
I feel your pain – really I do 😉
Thank you, MrsW – now back to grey skies and the school run, grrr!
Oh dear. But why on earth do I have problems feeling REALLY sorry for you guys? 🙂
Honestly, it was hell! That’s why I had to drink so many cocktails …. 🙂
You’re in a nice place to be stranded!
CJ xx
I know, I really lucked out 😉
Thinking for you, Alice. All UK airports reopened today. Hope that means you’ll be able to get home soon. I suppose there are worse places to be stranded! Hope you are all seeing it as an adventure xx
It was a huge adventure – stressful when I realised we couldn’t get back and there was so much to cancel, but once that was all done we just settled back and enjoyed our brief refugee status! I really felt for everyone who was in hotels and hadn’t budgeted for the extra days – we were so lucky to be staying with a friend who was brilliant about it all xx
Wow what a weird coincidence! We were on another island but went to Barbados on the 15th to fly home and couldn’t. Wish I’d checked bloggers rather than facebook. We were put up by Virgin at the Almond Beach Village. Just got home this afternoon after a last minutes call. It was great but strange too.
OMG! Would have been lovely to meet up. Next time we are all stranded on desert islands I will check your whereabouts! The Almond Beach looked fab too, sounds like Richard Branson did you proud. Hope he is kind when I send him all my receipts. Wasn’t it an odd feeling being stuck?
Hope it all went well?
It was fantastic, and the few extra days were an amazing bonus. I have mosquito bites on my mosquito bites, but well worth it x
Welcome Back!! Lxx
Thank you!! Grey skies and the school run …. Off to read all about your adventures in Dubai xx
